Coming Up 04:03
I'm coming up like sunrise on a longer shadow You can watch me on the hillside at the break of day I'm coming up like steam on the boiling water You can watch me disappear, fade away I love when the robin sings, sweet things through an open door How I've been waiting for these songs in the dawn I live every loving day, strange things through an open door How long we've been waiting for these songs in the dawn I've been listening to silence ever golden You can hear it in the evening fading in You've been hanging out in my mind to ease the burden Just passing by my window then gone again

Love, I'm hanging up my coat, been down that dusty road Heaven's a seed Sun, through the clouds well I don't know Nothing is as it is told, so what can be done The bend of the arc, a light in the darkness A man on the scene, no time to weep No more than you need If it's done like a deed, it's heavy, yeah Love I'm hanging up my coat, no more following fool's gold Like a minnow, where waters rarely run deep How was I to know All it just for show, so what can be done

what is this trick, what is this photograph that comes to mind every time? hey, didn’t know it was taking mine blazing all those trails, taking all those photographs taken long from the roof hey, didn’t know it was coming soon what is this dark room? what is this light that’s pouring in? to break itself upon itself and leave no time for crying shame the pencil breaks, broken the ticking of the time is when the sight of the edge is thin tell me now, design…tell me now photograph the gear is low, rolling down blacking out across the town taken for a fool, but I’m skipping school fold it up, had enough do you know what I’ve been thinking of? this tripping old dream for all it is and all it seems and I wrap myself inside the light of sleepless nights and tossing beds these running trains inside my head I skip the stones along the stream no wiser for this walking dream yeah, I skip the stones along the stream no wiser for this walking dream

Didn't always need to turn the key, when all of this could hide in bliss Turning over stones can't look away It's like everybody knows, they just won't say Didn't always hear the undertones, pulled over me another land Ever since the day I met you, when I look around, all I see Hey hey, what love is all around (tom) Came into this world alone Fell into a broken home Left when I was young, to the streets Looking for a sign along the way Now and then you got to wonder What's to come, could it be Living like we've got tunnel vision Leaving out periphery Hey hey, what love is all around (joy) If you get lost, I will find you If you get lost in the fray If you get lost I'll be your refuge If you get lost along the way For many years I have loved you For many more could it be Forgive me for my tunnel vision If I could look around, what I'd see Hey hey, what love is all around I've got you under the same light

about

The Joy Mills Band spent a quiet winter completing their ep, Coming Up, their fourth release. Recorded in a former veterinary hospital (now a writing & music studio), the songs (four originals and one cover) reflect a longing to connect with nature and each other outside the technological hum of modern day, such as on the title track:

You've been hanging out in my mind to ease the burden
Just passing by my window then gone again

I love when the robin sings, sweet things through an open door
How I've been waiting for these songs in the dawn
I live every loving day, strange things through an open door
How long we've been waiting for these songs in the dawn
